About
I am a lecturer in Ancient History at the Department of Classics of the University of Wales (Lampeter). Previous to this appointment I held lectureships and post-doc positions at the Universities of Leicester, Dresden and Heidelberg. My main research interests are Roman economy, ancient financial history, ancient trade, Roman law and epigraphy, and the reception of Antiquity in the performing and visual arts (specially Cinema and the Ancient World). My PhD (Barcelona, published in 2005) was devoted to the socio-economic role of auction-sales in the Roman world. My publications cover topics such as sales, auctions, market places and the distribution and consumption of luxury items in ancient Rome. I am coeditor of Imagines, La Antigüedad en las Artes Escénicas y Visuales (La Rioja 2008), and Hellas on Screen: Cinematic Receptions of Ancient History, Literature and Myth (Stuttgart 2008). I am currently working on a book about Tertullian and North Africa. Ongoing projects: Imagines (www.imagines-project.org), City of Rome Project (www.city-of-rome.org) and Sacred Ways: Trade, Routes and Cults in the Ancient World (http://www.trinitysaintdavid.ac.uk/en/schoolofclassics/research/projec
