About
I am a post-doctoral researcher in archaeology with an interest in the landscapes of the Post-Roman period in Wales as well as the rest of Britain and northern Europe. A recently completed research project funded by the University of Wales’s Centre for Advanced Welsh and Celtic Studies, Aberystwyth was tasked with the mapping of medieval monastic grants and the development of a spatial database. I am currently involved with the Strata Florida Abbey Research Project as co-director of the Landscape Project where I continue to develop research strategies, teaching programmes and fieldwork strategies as well as strengthening industry partnerships. I specialise in archaeological fieldwork techniques and landscape reconstruction through the application of remote sensing, geomatics and GIS and supply contract excavation, survey and geophysical services to clients. Other research interests include community archaeology, vernacular architecture, Welsh medieval and post medieval history, the gentry estate, landscaped gardens, the history of agriculture and Welsh customary tenure and law.
